Privacy Policy for DocLens
Aryan Software Labs operates the DocLens Android application. This Privacy Policy explains how DocLens accesses, processes, collects, uses, and protects information.
1. Information processed by DocLens
DocLens allows users to scan documents, import selected files or images, convert documents, create PDFs or other supported outputs, save results, and share files through Android's system sharing interface.
Document images, PDFs, text, and other user-selected files are processed on the user's device. Aryan Software Labs does not upload the contents of those documents to its own servers.
2. Permissions and local access
- Camera access, to scan physical documents.
- Photos, media, or user-selected files, to import and process content.
- Device storage or Android's document picker, to save and open generated files.
These permissions are used only to provide the feature requested by the user.
3. ML Kit processing and diagnostic information
DocLens uses Google ML Kit and Google Play services for document-scanning functionality. ML Kit processes document input and generated results on the device and does not send document images, document text, or resulting files to Google servers.
ML Kit may send limited technical information to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics. This may include device information, application information, device or installation identifiers, performance metrics such as latency, API configuration, input and output size, feature version, feature-use events, and error information. This technical data is encrypted in transit. According to Google's ML Kit documentation, this information is not transferred to third parties.
4. Sharing initiated by the user
When a user chooses to share a document through Android's share sheet, the selected file is sent to the app or service chosen by the user. The privacy practices of that destination app or service then apply.
5. Advertising and payments
The current version of DocLens does not display third-party advertising and does not use the Android Advertising ID. The current version does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions. This Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data safety declaration will be updated before such features are introduced.
6. Data sharing and sale
Aryan Software Labs does not sell user data. DocLens does not share user document contents with Aryan Software Labs or unrelated third parties.
7. Data retention and deletion
DocLens does not create user accounts and does not maintain a developer-operated cloud database of user documents. Files created or saved by DocLens remain on the user's device or in a location selected by the user until the user deletes them.
Technical metrics processed by Google through ML Kit are handled according to Google's applicable privacy and retention practices.
8. Security
DocLens is designed to keep document processing local to the device. Technical information transmitted by ML Kit is encrypted in transit using secure connections.
9. Children's privacy
DocLens is intended for users aged 13 and above and is not primarily directed at children under 13.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when DocLens features, SDKs, permissions, data practices, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
